Check the video settings. There are so many different types of video setups that it is impossible to report you how to fix it, but I can give you a brief explanation of what is scheduled, at least...

Computers use something call "video acceleration" to display movies. It is actually fundamentally similar to the green-screen used for weather reports or for CG effects in movies. The memory buffer which holds the contents of your eyeshade does not actually own the movie; it only holds a placeholder - resembling the green screen (although within this case, it is a purplish-black). Your video card automatically overlays the video onto this placeholder; apparently for the projector, the card is not overlaying it, so the placeholder region will look pretty much black.

To try to return with it working, you will have to budge into the video settings for your laptop. See if there is an likelihood to enable video acceleration on the lesser display. Like I said, every video setup is different... it is really stupid, IMHO... but that is the best proposal I can give you.
very well, that eliminates my answer as using the function key+monitor push button which makes the item go through the external monitor (which is what we do when setting up laptops / projectors).

So I would hold to say it's because of your laptop (crappy Siemens - a sorry company I used to work for!)
Download a Program Called Intervideo Windvd most of them You enjoy to pay for it but I think there is some free ones Out in attendance. Because You need DvD playback program. If these doens't Work you probrably entail some Special cabel or components.Or You have don't dvd palyer on your laptop.
