The key are placed where they are so you strike the more used correspondence with your stronger fingers (your forefingers, middle fingers) and the smaller amount used letters beside your weaker fingers (ring and pinkies) to learn touch typing. That's why the packages "X" and "Q" are the more difficult reaches.
