This is a Dell Inspiron 5100, running XP Pro, on SP2. The sliders for bass and treble are greyed out (disabled,) and both fixed at the minimum setting. The nouns quality is catastrophic. I've reinstalled the sound drivers, and looked over Dell's support site, but no resolution but.
Why are Bass/Treble disabled on the Volume Control GUI?
Soundcard doesn't support it maybe?
In most cases of this, the nouns card doesn't support it. If its always be this way, it other will. But if this feature be available and no it isn't, something may have messed up or it's time for updated drives or firmware.
